Sunday, November 20th
- Now thank we all our God, with heart and hands and voices,
who wondrous things has done, in whom this world rejoices;
who from our mothers’ arms has blessed us on our way
with countless gifts of love, and still is ours today.
- O may this bounteous God through all our life be near us,
with ever joyful hearts and blessed peace to cheer us;
and keep us still in grace, and guide us when perplexed;
and free us from all ills, in this world and the next.
- All praise and thanks to God the Father now be given;
the Son, and him who reigns with them in highest heaven;
the one eternal God, whom earth and heaven adore;
for thus it was, is now and shall be evermore.

Prayers of the People
Confession and Pardon
All: Lord of all times, we come into your presence asking your forgiveness. We have failed to live as people of the present. We have wasted moments, wanting the future now, seeing the world’s dreams as the answer to today’s problems. Rather than seeing your blessing in each day, we have looked backward to glory days that seem glorious only in their passing. Open our eyes to your mission at hand, the kingdom you are bringing about in our midst, the home you are building with, in, and through us. Open our ears, our eyes, and our hearts to your message of belonging so that we might participate in bringing the good news of salvation to the world. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen
Leader: Hear the good news: We are beloved of God and recipients of God’s love and blessings. In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven!
People: In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven
All: Let us be glad and rejoice in this, amen!
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen

God of glory, Lord of love;

Melt the clouds of sin and sadness;

Field and forest, vale and mountain,

chanting bird and flowing fountain,
call us to rejoice in thee.

One: We celebrate the lives of those who responded to our Lord’s call.
All: We hear that call coming as a promise to a life of true happiness.
One: It is true that the righteous have God’s blessing not only in this life to come,
but also in the life to come.
*Opening Hymn “For All The Saints” (1,2,6)
- For all the saints, who from their labors rest,
who thee by faith before the world confessed,
thy name, O Jesus, be forever blest.
Alleluia, Alleluia!
- Thou wast their rock, their fortress, and their might;
thou Lord, their captain in the well-fought fight;
thou in the darkness drear, their one true light.
Alleluia, Alleluia!
- From earth’s wide bounds, from ocean’s farthest coast,
through gates of pearl streams in the countless host,
singing to Father, Son, and Holy Ghost:
Alleluia, Alleluia!

Communion The Great Thanksgiving
Pastor: The Lord be with you.
All: And also with you.
Pastor: Lift up your hearts.
All: We lift them up to the Lord.
Pastor: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
All: It is right to give our thanks and praise.
Pastor: It is right, and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to give thanks to you, God Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. You formed us in your image and breathed into us the breath of life. In all places, at all times, in every way you reach out to us declaring your love, offering your grace, seeking our partnership and so we declare together in the words handed down by your people from age to age:
Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name the of the Lord, hosanna in the highest!
We remember as we gather around this table that you came among us in Jesus, declaring nothing would separate us from your love…(Pastor shares words).. And so we remember and offer ourselves in praise and thanksgiving as a holy and living offering in union with Christ as we proclaim the mystery of faith:
Christ has died; Christ is risen; Christ will come again!
Pour out your holy spirit on us gathered at this table of mystery, and on these gifts of food and drink, make them be for us the grace and love of Christ so that we might live as the body of Christ extending love to the world. Through your Son Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit in your holy Church, all honor and glory is yours, almighty Father, now and forever.
Amen.
Pastor: Let us eat and drink together as one in the body of Christ, as people forgiven and redeemed by God’s love and grace, amen.
Communion Hymn “ HYMN OF PROMISE”
Hymn #707
- In the bulb there is a flower in the seed, an apple tree;
In cocoon, a hidden promise: butterflies will soon be free!
In the cold and snow of winter there’s a spring that waits to be
unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see
- There’s a song in every silence, seeking word and melody;
There’s a dawn in every darkness bringing hope to you and me.
From the past will come the future: what it holds, a mystery,
unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see
- In our end is our beginning; in our time infinity;
In our doubt there is believing; in our life, eternity.
In our death, a resurrection; at the last, a victory,
unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see
Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen
All: Holy and Awesome God, we stand in your presence filled with wonder for who you are and sorrow for our many sins and failings. Though there is greatness in us, and a deep longing for goodness, we have often denied our better selves and refused to hear your voice calling us to rise to the full height of our humanity. For there is weakness in us, as well as strength. At times we choose to walk in darkness, our vision obscured. We do not care to look within, and we are unwilling to look beyond at those who need our help.
O God, be with us as a strong and wise friend, and teach us to walk by the light of your truth.
Please take a moment of silence.
Leader: Hear the good news:
The Lord God is merciful and gracious, endlessly patient, loving, and true, showing mercy to all, forgiving iniquity, transgression, and sin, and granting pardon. In the name of God, you are forgiven!
*Closing Hymn
710 Faith of Our Fathers ST. CATHERINE
- Faith of our fathers, living still,
in spite of dungeon, fire, and sword;
O how our hearts beat high with joy
whene’er we hear that glorious word!
Refrain:
Faith of our fathers, holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death.
- Faith of our fathers, we will strive
to win all nations unto thee;
and through the truth that comes from God,
we all shall then be truly free.
(Refrain)
- Faith of our fathers, we will love
both friend and foe in all our strife;
and preach thee, too, as love knows how
by kindly words and virtuous life.
(Refrain)
Benediction
The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you;
the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace. Amen.
