Call to Worship
In the silent places of our souls we turn to God, for God alone is our rock and salvation. Jesus called the children, the rich, the poor, those in need of healing, body and mind, preaching the good news of God, saying the time has come, the realm of God is at hand.  So let us invite this challenging, itinerant teacher into our hearts again to speak hope into the silent places of our souls, that we might participate fully in the Living Word, amen.

Opening Hymn UMH #57 O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing (vs. 1, 3, 4)

1. O for a thousand tongues to sing
my great Redeemer’s praise,
the glories of my God and King,
the triumphs of his grace!

3. Jesus! the name that charms our fears,
that bids our sorrows cease;
’tis music in the sinner’s ears,
’tis life, and health, and peace.

4. He breaks the power of canceled sin,
he sets the prisoner free;
his blood can make the foulest clean;
 his blood availed for me.

Prayers of the People

Hymn of Preparation UMH #378 Amazing Grace (vs. 1, 2, 3)

1. Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
that saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
was blind, but now I see.

2. ‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
and grace my fears relieved;
how precious did that grace appear
the hour I first believed.

3. Through many dangers, toils, and snares,
I have already come;
’tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
and grace will lead me home.

Invitation to Offering
Generous God, we ask you to bless the gifts we give this morning. We ask that that you help grow the trust in us, that we might follow without looking back and that we might leave behind more of our old lives to experience more deeply new life in you. Help us to leave those things that seemed essential before we heard the call, so that we might travel the road you have put before us. In the name of Christ who goes before us and beside us, we pray. Amen.

Offertory
“Jesus Calls Us O’er the Tumult” arr. Dale Wood

Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.   Amen.

Closing Hymn UMH #389 Freely, Freely (vs. 1 & 2) CCLI Song #13209

1. God forgave my sin in Jesus’ name,
I’ve been born again in Jesus’ name,
And in Jesus’ name I come to you
To share his love as he told me to.

Refrain: He said “Freely, freely you have received;, freely, freely give.
Go in my name, and because you believe others will know that I live.”

2. All pow’r is giv’n in Jesus’ name,
In earth and heav’n in Jesus’ name,
And in Jesus’ name I come to you
To share his pow’r as he told me to. (Refrain)

Benediction
No matter where God meets us, God is for us; no matter where God leads us, God is with us; no matter what God asks of us, God will see us through, so let us be courageous in everything we do.
