Welcome

Prelude
Toccata No. 8 – HANSON PLACE” (“Shall We Gather At the River”) arr. Joel Raney

Call to Worship
Arise, shine; for our light has come.
The glory of the Lord has appeared to us.
For darkness shall cover the earth,
     and thick darkness the peoples.
But the Lord will be our everlasting light.
His glory will shine upon us forever.

Opening Hymn UMH #189 Fairest Lord Jesus (vs. 1 & 4)

1. Fairest Lord Jesus, ruler of all nature,
O thou of God and man the Son,
thee will I cherish, thee will I honor,
thou, my soul’s glory, joy, and crown.

4 Beautiful Savior! Lord of all the nations!
Son of God and Son of Man!
Glory and honor, praise, adoration,
now and forevermore be thine.

Prayers of the People

Hymn of Preparation UMH #368 My Hope Is Built (vs. 1 & 3)

1. My hope is built on nothing less
than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
but wholly lean on Jesus’ name.

Refrain: On Christ the solid rock I stand,
all other ground is sinking sand;
all other ground is sinking sand.

3. His oath, his covenant, his blood
supports me in the whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way,
he then is all my hope and stay. (Refrain)

Message “Now and Not Yet” Rev. Don Finch

Invitation to Offering
How manifold are your works, amazing God!  When there is darkness in our lives, we can look to you for light and for hope and for renewal of life.  Your Spirit comes and we are lifted up and linked to one another.  We bring our offerings as an expression of thanksgiving for all your gifts.  May your glory be proclaimed in all we give and all we do, when we are together and when we are apart, so that we do your will wherever we are.  Amen.

Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.   Amen.

Closing Hymn UMH #465 Holy Spirit, Truth Divine (vs. 1 & 4)

1. Holy Spirit, Truth divine, dawn upon this soul of mine;
Word of God and inward light, wake my spirit, clear my sight.

4. Holy Spirit, Right divine, King within my conscience reign;
be my Lord, and I shall be firmly bound, forever free.

Benediction
No matter where God meets us, God is for us; no matter where God leads us, God is with us; no matter what God asks of us, God will see us through, so let us be courageous in everything we do.
