Call to worship
You call us,
Wanderer of seashores and sidewalks,
inviting us to sail out of our safe harbors
into the uncharted waters of faith
to wander off our predictable paths and follow You.
So here we are called, ready, waiting for your words, “Follow me.”  Amen.

Opening Hymn UMH #116 The God of Abraham Praise (vs. 1 & 3)
1. The God of Abraham praise, who reigns enthroned above;
Ancient of Everlasting Days, and God of love;
Jehovah, great I AM! by earth and heaven confessed;
I bow and bless the sacred name forever blest.

3. The heavenly land I see, with peace and plenty blest;
a land of sacred liberty, and endless rest.
There milk and honey flow, and oil and wine abound,
and trees of life forever grow with mercy crowned.

Hymn of Preparation
UMH #263 When Jesus the Healer Passed Through Galilee (vs. 1 & 2)
1. When Jesus the healer passed through Galilee,
Heal us, heal us today!
The deaf came to hear and the blind came to see.
Heal us, Lord Jesus!

2. A paralyzed man was let down through a roof.
Heal us, heal us today!
His sins were forgiven, his walking the proof.
Heal us, Lord Jesus!

Invitation to Offering
Generous God, grow our faith that we might follow without looking back, that we might seek you through our living and giving.  Help us to leave our nets on the shore, so that we might travel the road you have put before us. In the name of Christ who goes before us and beside us, we pray. Amen.

Offertory
“Fairest Lord Jesus” arr. Ken Holland
John Neve, handbells

Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.   Amen.

Closing Hymn TFWS #2130 The Summons (vs. 1, 3, 4)
1. Will you come and follow me if I but call your name?
Will you go where you don’t know and never be the same?
Will you let me love be shown, will you let my name be known,
Will you let me life be grown in you and you in me?

2. Will you let the blinded see if I but call your name?
Will you set the prisoners free and never be the same?
Will you kiss the leper clean, and do such as this unseen,
And admit to what I mean in you and you in me?

3. Will you love the “you” you hide if I but call your name?
Will you quell the fear inside and never be the same?
Will you use the faith you’ve found to reshape the world around,
Through my sight and touch and sound in you and you in me?
