Prelude
The Lord’s My Shepherd, I’ll Not Want  by Gordon Young

Call to Worship
There are times we walk through the valley
When it feels like night, and there is no light
There are times when we walk through the valley
When all landmarks disappear, and we are faced with fear
There are times when we walk through the valley
And in those times especially, God, we know you are here
You are with us when we walk through the valley.

Hymn of Praise UMH 126 Sing Praise to God Who Reigns Above (vs. 1 and 3)

1. Sing praise to God who reigns above, the God of all creation,
the God of power, the God of love, the God of our salvation.
With healing balm my soul is filled and every faithless murmur stilled:
To God all praise and glory.

3. Thus all my toilsome way along, I sing aloud thy praises,
that earth may hear the grateful song my voice unwearied raises.
Be joyful in the Lord, my heart, both soul and body bear your part:
To God all praise and glory.

Prayers of the People
Shepherding God, of all creation, you care for all my needs, restoring my soul, my heart, so that I am whole. Hear these prayers and praises.

God our Shepherd, hear our Prayer.

Jesus our host, you welcome all to your table, preparing a feast for each, so that even enemies might sit and eat together from your abundance. Teach us to be a people of overflowing hospitality, sharing with all what you have given.

God our Shepherd, hear our Prayer.

Ever Sending Spirit, move us from places of comfort to places where we may offer comfort, send us to heal, bring peace, and teach others the grace you have taught us.

God our Shepherd, hear our Prayer.

Gracious God, surely goodness and mercy shall mark the paths You send us along, and the works You give us to do, so that all may know that we dwell in Your house, always. Amen.

Scripture Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside still waters; he restores my soul. He leads me in right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff— they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord my whole life long.

Hymn of Preparation UMH 381 Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us (vs. 1 and 3)

1. Savior, like a shepherd lead us, Much we need Thy tender care;
In Thy pleasant pastures feed us, For our use Thy folds prepare:
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus, Thou hast bought us, Thine we are;
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus, Thou hast bought us, Thine we are.

3. Thou hast promised to receive us, Poor and sinful though we be;
Thou hast mercy to relieve us, Grace to cleanse, and pow’r to free:
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus, Early let us turn to Thee;
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus, Early let us turn to Thee.

Our Gifts and Offerings
The body of Christ is alive and well and Christ Church is engaging in mission and outreach even in this time of physical distancing. There are so many ways we give; through our prayers for each other, our calls to one another, the ministries we engage, and the gifts we offer God and the church. God, we give you thanks for the ways you call us to give, and in this time of offering bless our gifts, our intentions, and all the ministries we offer to you today! Amen.

Our Father,
Who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
