Letter Announcing Move to One Service

Dear Church Family,
I want to share some exciting news with all of you. After several months of prayerful conversations with the Leadership Teams of Christ Church, the determination has been made for Christ Church to move to one worship service beginning June 1st, which will allow our church family to be united on Sunday mornings. This adjustment to the Sunday morning schedule has the support of the Covenant Council as they see this is a great opportunity for the church to become stronger in faith, more committed in serving our community, and closer to one another.
Since last November when I shared a sermon series on our Annual Conference Compelling Vision, that “we are called to be a courageous church, loving like Jesus, working for justice, and united in hope,” each Ministry Team has been evaluating their team’s current work and hopes for the future. They have discovered that, in order to live into the Compelling Vision, some tough decisions would be required. Moving to one worship service is one of those decisions as it has been made clear that trying to maintain two separate worship groups does not allow the church to maximize the resources that are held in trust for church use.
The exact schedule for Sunday morning worship and other activities is still a work in progress. Rest assured that every effort will be made to make the transition as smooth and painless as possible for everyone. Details will be shared in the weeks ahead through the weekly Channel 2.0.
Please be in prayer for the church and for one another in the days and weeks ahead that we might embrace change and be grateful for all the good work being done through the church here is this community and around the world.
Blessings to you all,
Pastor Rula

One Service Format Update

I know many of you have questions about the news that Christ Church will be moving to one worship service beginning June 3. There have been some discussion on how best to integrate all the other activities with the change. Here is what we have so far:
-Worship on Sunday morning: 10:00 a.m.
-Choir Rehearsal (suggested time): 9:00 to 9:30 a.m.
-Coffee Fellowship: 9:30 a.m.
-Adult Sunday School (suggested times): 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. OR 8:45 to 9:45 a.m.
-Children’s Sunday School: 10:00 a.m.
-Church Concerts: 11:15 a.m.
All volunteers that read, greet, usher, work in the sound booth, or serve communion on Sunday mornings will be put onto one list and scheduled according to their availability.
I am the first one to admit that change is hard, but we all know change happens. I hope that we here at Christ Church can be willing to embrace change. I pray that even though we might have different opinions about what worship should look like, that we stay focused on being open to hearing God’s voice as we work to be disciples of Jesus Christ.

 One Service Update

Checking in again to let you know how things are progressing with the worship change that is happening. The term “blended” has been mentioned, and I want to let you know there will be no specific designation for the one worship beginning on June 3 at 10:00 am. It will simply be known as “Worship”. Worship will be designed to include of a variety of music genres, some will be as special music offerings, others will be as congregation sung pieces. The United Methodist Hymnal, The Faith We Sing, and Worship and Song will be used as resources, as well as other musical settings that would be appropriate at specific times in the Christian Year. If any of you have special musical talents you would like to share, or have suggestions for particular songs to be used, please let us know. Please keep in mind that it is not possible to use every suggestion. Let me reassure you again that I understand that this change is testing our resolve to remain united in our concept of what it means to be in worship. But I know if we all are willing to give this whole “togetherness” thing a chance, it will be a great opportunity for personal growth and deepening faith.
